Website or funnel: which one does your business actually need?
A website answers questions. A funnel answers one question at a time. Here's how to tell which one your money should go into first.
Most business owners ask for a website when what they need is a funnel — and a few ask for a funnel when what they really need is a credible home on the internet.
A website is a library. Someone arrives curious, wanders through your services, reads a little about you, and decides whether you feel like the right fit. It carries your reputation and your search traffic.
A funnel is a corridor. There is one offer, one next step, and nowhere else to go. You send traffic to it deliberately — ads, email, a podcast mention — and you measure one number.
If you already have demand and want to convert it, build the funnel. If people are hearing your name and looking you up, build the site. Most of our clients end up with a small, elegant site and one sharp funnel behind it.
The mistake is building a twelve-page site and hoping it converts cold traffic. It won't. Pages are cheap; attention is not.
